Georgia-Pacific employees to wait on hearing about layoffs
Employees at the Georgia-Pacific plant in Whiteville will have a few days to wait before learning if layoffs at the plant will affect them.
A spokesperson told WWAY that they are monitoring market conditions to determine how long they will be able to keep the plant running.
Within the next five to ten days, 95 employees will be notified as to whether the plant will remain open. Eighty from Plywood Production and 15 from the sawmill could temporarily be laid off.
