Get Home Safe vouchers aim to cut down on drunk driving this party weekend
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — It’s Azalea Festival weekend in Wilmington, and that means lots of reasons to party. But it also means an increased risk of drunk drivers on the road.
WWAY is proud to support the Get Home Safe. The non-profit aims to make it easier for you to avoid the temptation of driving after drinking by offering vouchers for cab service.
Get Home Safe grew from Port City Collision owner Bryan Harrell’s cut down on the number of car crashes his business sees that are the result of drunk driving.
The organization is offering vouchers worth up to $25 toward fares for rides with Lett’s Taxi or Yellow Cab. You can get vouchers at Port City Collision at 6101 Market Street. If you’re heading to the Cole Swindell concert downtown tonight, WWAY’s Daniel Seamans will be broadcasting across the street starting at 5 p.m. If you stop by during a commercial and say hello, he will be happy to give you some vouchers while his supply lasts.
Get Home Safe plans to offer vouchers for other popular party times, including Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day and during the Christmas season.
