Girl Scouts add art to animal shelter

NEW HANOVER COUNTY — Some local Girl Scouts added a little bit of art to the New Hanover County Animal Shelter this weekend.

The young ladies from troop 533 painted murals on the animal control building. They also did some landscaping, placing decorated stones on the lawn.

All their hard work will earn them the Girl Scouts silver award.

Girl Scout Sarah Harty said, “It actually feels really nice because we’re actually making it comforting for the dogs, so that people can adopt them and they won’t be put down or anything.”

The girls also made dog biscuits for people who stopped by to adopt a pet.
