Giving Tuesday: Make a difference at area nonprofits

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — You don’t have to wait outside a store or up until special hour to catch this deal.

It’s Giving Tuesday and it’s the way you can make a extra difference with your dollar this holiday season.

Today is when you can take those shopping dollars and give back to a local or national nonprofit.

We talked with the Bellamy Museum who is sending requests out to everyone they can to urge them to give. Places like the museum solely rely on either grants or donations which makes this day a very important reminder that gifts aren’t just for family – but can be for the community.

“We receive over 25,000 visitors from around the country and around the globe,” Laurel Coffey, Bellamy Museum resource development manager, said. “So in order to keep our doors open and provide tours and over fifty special events per year, we need funds to keep that going.”

Several nonprofits are hosting a giving campaign on social media today, but donations are not a one day deal. You can give to the nonprofit of your choice all year long.
