GLOW receives 28 acres of land for new campus

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Cameron Family donated 28 acres of land to GLOW, right next to Maides Park in Wilmington.

With the land, the Girls Leadership Academy of Wilmington will build its permanent middle and high school campus.

With the understanding that education is the greatest equalizer, the Bruce Barclay Cameron Foundation has also contributed $250,000 that will be spread out over the next five years.

The donation allows glow to continue to spread their message of helping out young women.

“We can make our community better by educating the future,” GLOW Principal Laura Hunter said. “That’s what this land is. It’s an opportunity for the community to come together and support the future of Wilmington, which lives in the hallways of GLOW Academy every day.”

Work for the area is set to start in 2018.
