GMC’s Randy Aldridge among ‘Ladies and Gentlemen of the Cape Fear’ honorees
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Friday night a group of men and women were honored for their community service. Those behind the Women of Hope organization hosted the 6th Annual Ladies and Gentlemen of Cape Fear awards.
Good Morning Carolina’s very own Randy Aldridge was one of the people nominated. The nominees each received a painted portrait of themselves. Randy chose the back drop for his painting to be his hometown of Southport.
“I am so excited to be a part of this extraordinary group of men and women, who really do amazing things throughout our community,” said Aldridge. “I have to be honest, it’s very very humbling for somebody to say ‘I want you to be included with these people’.”
Randy said he wants to encourage others to get involved in the community.
Randy was joined by 8 other honorees which include Shelia Evans, Billy and Gloria Ezzell, Suprena Hickman, Cathy Luna, Kim Nelson, Lucybeth Nieves, Thurman Turner, Alexis Wall and Elle Woods.
The portraits were done by local artist Kenny Barnes. A book of the portraits are for sale and all proceeds will go to Hope Abounds Inc., an organization that supports women and children with cancer and their families.
