Good Shepherd Center launches #GiveGSC5 Campaign

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY ) — On November 1, 2016, Good Shepherd Center launched the #GiveGSC5 campaign as part of the national Giving Tuesday initiative.

Good Shepherd is asking supporters to “Be #UnSelfie” and donate five dollars or more between November 1 and December 1 to raise $5,000 for Good Shepherd in support of the hungry and homeless in our community.  Individuals or groups can post a “High Five” #UnSelfie on their social media channels with the hashtag #GiveGSC5 and #GivingTuesday. Every five dollars donated buys a meal for a neighbor in need.

Donations can be made through Good Shepherd’s website at www.goodshepherdwilmington.org, mailed to 811 Martin Street, Wilmington, NC 28401, or made in person at Good Shepherd’s office between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Good Shepherd is the largest provider of homeless services in the Tri-County region and works with men, women and families with children to move them from shelter to housing stability. Located at 811 Martin Street in Wilmington, Good Shepherd provides a soup kitchen, day and night shelter, and rehousing solution for members of the Cape Fear community.  Each year, Good Shepherd provides approximately 85,000 meals to hungry individuals and families; shelters more than 900 homeless men, women, and children; and helps over 100 homeless individuals, including families, transition to housing.  This would not be possible without the time and talent of some 500 community volunteers.  Good Shepherd is truly helping to end homelessness in our region by providing for basic needs during crisis and fostering rapid transition to independence.
