Gores Row murder suspect makes first court appearance


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The man charged in an April 18 murder in Wilmington had his first court appearance.

Thursday, Anthony Darelle Stokes, 37, went before a judge in a New Hanover County courtroom.  The judge appointed him an attorney and set his bond at two million dollars secured.  Stokes is facing a second degree murder charge in the shooting death of  Vincent Lamont Blakely, 35.

US Marshals found him him Thomasville, NC.  Police say Blakely was shot and killed in the 100 block of Gores Row.

His next court appearance is set for October 26.
