Gov. Cooper signs Azalea Festival proclamation

RALEIGH, NC (WWAY) — The 70th annual Azalea Festival is less than two weeks away.

Today, Governor Roy Cooper made it official.

He signed the proclamation today in Raleigh to kick off the celebration. Some special guests surrounded him, including some Azalea Belles, the North Carolina Azalea Festival Princess and court and the Azalea Festival board.

Yesterday, the Azalea Festival announced the Queen Azalea and other special guests.

The festival kicks off April 5.
