Governor announces federal loans for storm in Sampson County
RALEIGH, NC (AP) – Gov. Roy Cooper is announcing a program for federal loans to businesses and homeowners affected by severe storms late last month in Sampson County.
A news release Thursday said that the state has received a U.S. Small Business Administration disaster declaration that the governor requested for the May 29 storm that caused major damage to more than two-dozen structures.
Businesses and homeowners can apply to the SBA for low-interest loans to help repair damage to buildings and real estate, while homeowners and renters can also apply for loans to replace personal belongings.
Smaller state grants are also available. Residents of several nearby counties may be eligible for loans.
Applications will be taken at the SBA website. Starting Friday, officials will also staff an outreach center for several days to help people with applications at the Sampson County Exposition center in Clinton.
