Governor offers $25,000 reward for information in New Hanover County murder
CASTLE HAYNE, NC (WWAY) — North Carolina Gov. Josh Stein announced a reward of up to $25,000 Monday for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for the murder of a New Hanover County man.
Don’Tae De’Charles Nixon, 31, was shot and killed on Dec. 3, 2024.
New Hanover County deputies responded to a report of a shooting on Stoney Road in Castle Hayne, where they found Nixon deceased inside his vehicle from gunshot wounds.
Investigators say Nixon had just gotten into his vehicle to leave for work at UPS, where he worked as a package handler.
“We must use every tool at our disposal to pursue justice for victims,” Stein said. “I urge North Carolinians who have information about this case to contact local law enforcement and help us hold Don’Tae Nixon’s murderer accountable.”
