Governor’s office offers reward in woman’s death

RALEIGH — The Governor’s Office is offering a reward for information in the death of a North Carolina woman found dead in her driveway.

Gov. Beverly Perdue’s office said Friday a reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case of 28-year-old Charity Simpson Worley. She was found dead in her Hendersonville driveway Dec. 17. An autopsy report said she died from a blow to the head.

Investigators have said they believe Worley knew her attacker, and they may have recovered the weapon used to beat her. A 911 caller said Worley had been run over by her sport utility vehicle. Investigators said evidence at the crime scene did not match the story given by the caller.
