Governor fills SENC spot on Transportation Board
Southeastern North Carolina once again has a voice on the state Transportation Board. Jacksonville business owner Mike Alford was sworn in this morning at the board’s monthly meeting in Raleigh.
Gov. Bev Perdue appointed him to a four-year term to represent Brunswick, Duplin, New Hanover, Onslow, Pender and Sampson Counties.
Our area’s seat had been open since Wilmington developer Lanny Wilson resigned last month. His resignation came just hours before a federal indictment against former Mike Easley aide Ruffin Poole detailed payoffs believed to have come from Wilson.
