Governor signs three ethics bills

RALEIGH (AP) — Governor Mike Easley signed into law today several ethics bills that open state Ethics Commission hearings and regulate legal defense funds for public officials.

One new law opens nearly all hearings of the commission to the public and makes most records public.

The law regulating defense funds makes it mandatory that the money be reported.
