Group starts petition to reopen Lennon Lacy investigation

BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) –  Three years after the death of Lennon Lacy and a little more than two months after the FBI closed its investigation into the teen’s death, a petition is now circulating to reopen the case.

On August 29, 2014, Lacy, a football player at West Bladen High School, was found hanging from a swing set.  Although an autopsy determined there was no sign of foul play, there was speculation among the community that Lacy’s death was not a suicide.

In December of 2014, the FBI got involved in the investigation. Just over two months ago, on June 16, the FBI closed its case, saying they found no evidence of a homicide.

A group called Tools for Change created a petition two days ago to reopen the investigation.

The petition states there are unexplained questions surrounding Lacy’s death that the family deserves to have answered.

You can read the entire petition here.

As of this morning, it had nearly 370 signatures.
