Guardrail work delays Beasley Road reopening

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Beasley Road was scheduled to reopen tonight, but now it’s been delayed until later this week.

In March, the city closed Beasley Road between Wilton Court and Chelon Avenue so crews could  replace the bridge as part of a larger $4 million drainage improvement project in the Brookshire Lane/Beasley Road area.

The $603,000 project involved the construction of a modern concrete structure with a span 35 feet longer and 10 feet wider than the former bridge to allow for improved drainage.

The reopening is now delayed until Friday so crews can install a guardrail on the new bridge.
