Guilty verdict in 2014 Bladen County murder
BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A jury has convicted a man charged with a 2014 murder in Bladen County, according to District Attorney Jon David.
Twasjay Brown will spend the rest of his life in prison after being convicted of first-degree murder in the shooting death of Malcolm Jerome Melvin at a home near Elizabethtown in October 2014. Ernest Raysean Grey was also charged in the case. Investigators said at the time that there were other people in the home during the shooting, including a young child, but no one else was hurt.
Brown was arrested in February 2015 in Clarkton and charged with Melvin’s murder.
The jury also convicted Brown of discharging a weapon into occupied property and possession of a firearm by a felon.
According to the NC Department of Public Safety website, Brown had gotten out of prison less than a year before Melvin’s murder. Brown’s record includes convictions for assault and robbery.
