Guns and hoses square off for annual hockey game

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington’s finest in red and blue hit the ice over the weekend for the annual Wilmington Police Department vs. Wilmington Fire Department charity ice hockey game.

Police officers and firefighters squared off at the Wilmington Ice House Saturday for the friendly game. This was the Sixth Annual Guns and Hoses Charity Game and dozens of fans of both sides came to support the teams.

One fan said she was there to support WPD, but says everyone on each side is a winner.

“I mean it’s for a great cause, it’s a good charity game and you know there’s always that friendly, you know, rivalry between police and fire, so it’s just going to be a good game no matter what. We are all here for the same purpose and on the same team,” fan Robin Forbes said.

All the proceeds from the game will go to the Carousel Center of Wilmington.
