Habitual offender pleads guilty to drug charges

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) – A Columbus County man will spend up to 8 years behind bars after pleading guilty today.

Roscoe McCullum pled to one count of Trafficking Opium/Heroin, one count of Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, and admitted to obtaining the status of Habitual Offender.

“Mr. McCullum was a habitual offender living in our community and chose to sell controlled substances to an undercover informant working for the Columbus County Sheriff’s Department,” said Assistant District Attorney Heath Nance.  “Specifically, Mr. McCullum sold 15 Hydrocodone pills and 5 grams of Marijuana to the undercover informant for $100.”

McCullum had prior convictons of Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury, and Burning Personal Property.
