Hacked NC road sign blames closures on ‘idiots on bikes’

PITTSBORO, NC (WNCN) — Images posted to social media show an electronic road sign near Pittsboro displaying inappropriate messages along this weekend’s Ironman race route.

Twitter user Beci Markijohn posted video of a road sign along Highway 64 near Pittsboro that said the right lane would be closed “due to idiots on bikes.”

Markijohn posted to Facebook saying another sign said “(expletive) on bikes – Expect delays.”

The lanes closures are scheduled because of the Ironman race taking place June 3 throughout the area.
