Hammerheads expect release of 2011 schedule this week

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — David Irving told WWAY Saturday he expects to know his team’s schedule by the end of the week. Irving expects to have 12 home games.

We caught up with the Wilmington Hammerheads head coach during the team’s open tryout at a cold and windy Legion Stadium Saturday morning. Thirty Hammerheads hopefuls attended the tryout. Several of them will be back at Legion Stadium Sunday morning for a 10 a.m. scrimmage, weather pending.

The Hammerheads tentative home opener will be Saturday, April 16 at Legion Stadium. Irving says the new field turf at the stadium should be in by then with a completion date currently set for early April.
