Hammerheads coach says 3 points a must Sunday

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)  — A record of one win, one loss and one tie is nice and neat, but Wilmington Hammerheads head coach Mark Briggs is not concerned about neatness. He knows his club probably should have beaten Richmond earlier this month in Wilmington. The game ended in a scoreless tie. He knows his Hammerheads club should earned at least a tie against Charleston over the weekend, but Charleston won 2 to 1. “We’ve had two difficult games against two teams that I believe will finish near the top of the league at the end of the season in Richmond Kickers and Charleston,” Mark Briggs told WWAY on Tuesday.  “To be honest I believe we held our own against both of those teams without really playing our best football. It’s disappointing to come out of Charleston losing the game and we should have come away with points. There wasn’t a foul on the goalkeeper and the second goal we got should have stood.”

The Hammerheads next game will be a Sunday matinee 3 o’clock showdown at home at Legion Stadium against winless Montreal. “For us it’s a huge game, it’s our second home game and we have to go out on Sunday. We have to attack. We have to get into Montreal’s faces and we have to score goals and get three points.”
