Hampstead to vote on incorporation
PENDER COUNTY — Hampstead voters will finally get the chance to decide for themselves whether to incorporate.
Wednesday state lawmakers gave final approval to a bill which allows for a referendum in the Pender County community.
In the November 6 election residents in the community will vote on if Hampstead should become an official town. The issue has been up for debate for years.
Some people want official control over planning and growth. Others want no part of new town taxes.
