Happy 235th birthday, USMC

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Every day is somebody’s birthday, but November 10th is a birthday to celebrate all over the world. The United States Marine Corps is 235. Staff Sergeant Raul Munoz says he can’t even remember his own birthday, but he remembers the Marine Corps.

“No matter what you’re doing, we stop and celebrate the birthday because it’s so special to us. For the present marines, the marines in the past and for the marines in the future. We want to keep those traditions going.”

To celebrate, Marines in the States hold a Marine Corps Ball, complete with dinner, cake and dancing. Even Marines serving overseas celebrate by taking time to cut a cake.
