Harmful bacteria levels at NC beach
WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH — State environmental officials say two beaches on the sound side of Wrightsville Beach have high levels of bacteria that could cause stomach problems or skin
infections.
The Star-News of Wilmington reports that more testing will be conducted Monday at the beaches on Banks Channel at the south end of Wrightsville’s island. One beach is south of the Coast Guard station and the other is off Waynick Boulevard.
Officials said the bacteria exceeded the state and federal standards for recreational use.
