Hearing to discuss Aqua’s rate increase

There’s a public hearing tonight to discuss Aqua North Carolina’s proposed rate increase for some New Hanover County residents.

Aqua has proposed rate increases across the state.

Local customers received a notice informing them of the plan to raise water and sewer rates more than 250 percent.

Customers have started a petition to prevent the increase from happening.

The hearing begins Monday at 7 p.m. at the New Hanover County Courthouse.
