Herb and Garden Fair this weekend!


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – If you want to give your green thumb some ideas, Poplar Grove is springing into action with a family friendly event this weekend!

The Poplar Grove Plantation is holding its Herb and Garden Fair from 9-4pm on Saturday and 10-4pm on Sunday.

Organizers say the grounds will be filled with vendors selling annuals, perennials, shrubs, native plants, herbs and container gardens. There will be raffles and barnyard tours available.
Hotdogs, chips and drinks will be sold to directly benefit the onsite animal sanctuary.
There is an adult $5.00 admission fee, $3.00 for seniors and active military, 10% off for members, and kids (big ones too) free. Your admission fee includes live music at the Gazebo. Local artists, Chip Gideons and Darren Jones of Riff Jones, will rehash classic tunes on Saturday, 11AM-2PM. and from Seaboard, North Carolina – singer/songwriter Ann Meadows will be belting out melodious tunes from 2-4PM. Ann returns on Sunday from 12-2PM.

Organizers say they will be raffling off a grill from Lowe’s at Porter’s Neck. There will be hamburgers, hotdogs, wraps, smoothies, and baked goods available for purchase, including Firehouse Kettle Korn and Snowie of the Carolinas.

The Animal Sanctuary at Poplar Grove will be open for tours (closed toes shoes required) at 10AM, 11AM, 1PM & 2PM for $5.00 a person (young and old). There will also be a free basket-making workshop at 1PM on Saturday in the Basket Gallery (limit 12) as well as a face painting booth and animal Meet & Greets throughout the day.

Poplar Grove Plantation and the animal sanctuary are part of the Poplar Grove Foundation, a non-profit that promotes education, conservation, and preservation.
