He’s going to Disney World!

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A trip to Disney World means the world to one Brunswick County child.

The 10-year-old found out he is going to Disney World in January courtesy of Make-A-Wish Eastern North Carolina. Eldon, who is autistic, suffers from a nervous-system disorder, and many other ailments, but hopefully he’ll be able to forget about that for a bit when he goes to Florida.

Knox Pediatrics helped grant his wish, and announce it at Jungle Rapids in Wilmington Tuesday night. His pediatrician, Dr. Lenard Edralin, said medication can only do so much, so experiences like going to Disney World really help.

“Like with most kids, they’re very resilient, any chronic illness a child may have, you know, part of them getting better, or helping with their illness is the physiological aspect of it. Any time you’re able to make a child happy, their immune system is going to respond in a positive way,” Dr. Edralin said.

Folks at Make-A-Wish Eastern North Carolina said last year, they granted a record 202 wishes. But, they still have more than 200 kids waiting for their wishes.

It’s not too late to make an end-of-year donation which will help make a wish grant wishes in 2015. You can click here to do that.
