Hewett set for release

Former Brunswick County Sheriff Ron Hewett soon will be a free man. According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Hewett will complete his sentence tomorrow. The former sheriff has been at a halfway house since October.

Under the terms of his sentence, Hewett still faces two years of supervised released. Sources have previously told us he intends to return to Brunswick County.

Hewett pleaded guilty to federal obstruction of justice in November 2008. Hewett was the sheriff of Brunswick County for 14 years.
