High-speed chase across two counties results in accident

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office and Wilmington Police Department responded to a high speed chase that resulted in a crash early this morning according to WPD.

According to the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, Charles Elliot Brown, 23, was speeding and driving recklessly in Brunswick county. When Brunswick County Sheriff’s attempted to pull him over around 2:45 AM, he sped off, leading police on a chase across two counties.

The chase came to a halt when the man lost control of the vehicle and crashed his car into the guard rail on the off ramp of the Cape Fear Memorial bridge. Brown ran from the crash and was arrested nearby at 2:49 AM.

There were no injuries. According to the sheriff’s office he is wanted out of Brexar County, Texas on felony charges including drug charges.

Charges have not yet been released.
