High school students visit CFCC to learn about health industry
Hands on health training was the name of the game today at CFCC.
A handful of students from North Brunswick High School interested in pursuing health related careers got the chance to practice real life procedures.
Students learned about drawing blood, practiced suturing a pig’s foot, and took each other’s blood pressure.
Another demonstration involved a Nintendo Wii game that simulated surgery.
“It was a lot of fun, definitely a lot better than a school day. I want to be a surgeon and we got to do the Wii game. So its kind of like an intro to being a surgeon I guess,” said Eric Spafford.
The video game is new twist on the classic Operation game, but much more involved.
The program was a joint effort between CFCC, Brunswick County Job-ready, and the Southeast Area Health Education Center.
