Highway Patrol explains how car ended up in Rice Creek

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — We now know how a car ended up in Rice Creek near Winnabow over the weekend.

It happened off the Rice Creek boat ramp along Gordon Lewis Drive around 10 p.m. Sunday.

Highway Patrol says the driver tried to brake, but a spray can had rolled underneath the brake pedal and the driver was unable to brake before going into the water.

Troopers say there were no injuries and no charges will be filed.
