Highway patrol to crack down on seat belts

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — State troopers will be watching drivers who aren't wearing seat belts for the next two weeks.

The Highway Patrol is conducting Operation Buckle-Up 2007 starting today. The statewide enforcement drive ends September 23rd.

Statewide seat belt use is 89 percent and the goal is to raise it to more than 90 percent in an effort to cut highway fatalities.
