Hit and run leaves man in critical condition, WPD still searching

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police need your help finding the suspect of a hit and run that happened last night.

Police say Dennis Massa is in critical condition at New Hanover Regional Medical Center after colliding with a vehicle at the corner of Lullwater and Franklin around 9:00 last night.

According to Wilmington Police Officer Anderson of the Traffic Unit, the driver of the vehicle turned left in front Massa on his moped, causing Massa to crash into the right side of the vehicle, taking off the right rearview mirror of the car and totaling the moped.

The driver of the car sped off down Franklin toward Kerr Avenue, leaving Massa in a pool of his own blood in life-threatening condition. He was transported to the hospital immediately, but police are still searching for the car responsible for the accident.

Neighbors say traffic on Lullwater is often dangerous and hope something will be done to slow traffic down.

It is believed to be a white four-door sedan, with a dent in the right side and without the right outside mirror.
