Hoggard grad’s workout app on ‘Shark Tank’

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Hoggard High School alum’s workout app is being featured on a national television show. It’s heading into the “Shark Tank” tonight on WWAY and ABC.

Sworkit is a full workout at your finger tips..

“It’s all about just making it simple to say yes, and watch the work out and follow along,” app creator Ryan Hanna said.

Hanna says easy, convenient workout routines were the main focus behind the mobile app, and the man behind the app is from the Port City.

“I grew up in Wilmington,” Hannah said. “I went to UNC, studied information sciences and then went into the Army Reserves.”

Hanna, who now lives in England, says his time in the reserves actually helped inspire some of the workouts featured in Sworkit.

Sworkit can go anywhere, and now it’s going to “Shark Tank.” Hanna’s collaborators Greg Coleman and Ben Young swam with the “sharks” in hopes of giving Sworkit more exposure.

“We’re excited to have that big of an audience see it all at one time,” Hanna said. “We’ve been doing a lot of extra things to get ready, but we’re definitely ready, and we are excited to hear what people think.”

However the app is received, Hanna is confident Sworkit will continue to help people get fit and healthy.

“There’s a lot of great apps out there. Some of them help, some of them just entertain you, and we are excited to be in the field of being able to make a difference in people’s lives,” he said.

UPDATE: They took Mark Cuban’s $1.5 million dollars for 10% stake offer.   Cuban also gets any unused advertising available on the app. Congrats guys!
