Horry County firefighter arrested for sexual battery with a student
Conway, S.C. (WPDE) — An Horry County firefighter is charged with sexual battery with a student.
Matthew James Oswald, 31, of Conway, was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center at around 1 p.m. on Wednesday, according to detention center records.
His arrest comes after, between September and October of 2017, a 17-year-old girl says a sexual incident took place between the two at a home on McCall Loop in the Conway section of Horry County, according to a police report.
The sexual incident happened “while the victim was enrolled as a student at which the defendant was acting in a teaching capacity,” the report states.
His bond has been set at $10,000, according to the detention center.
