Hundreds come out for 40th Pender County Spring Festival

BURGAW, NC (WWAY) — The Pender County Courthouse Square in Burgaw was packed with people Saturday for the county’s annual Spring Festival.

Fried chicken, barbecue, funnel cakes and more were available if you wanted a bite to eat.

There were also plenty of vendors, local performances and an art exhibit with pieces created by Pender County students.

Festival founder Rochelle Whiteside says no matter if you’re from Burgaw, Rocky Point or Surf City, you’d be right at home at Saturday’s event.

“It’s a nice way to unite the county,” Whiteside said. “Most of the time, individual communities are in competition in some way, but the arts have a way of bringing us together, which is pretty nice.”

The Pender County Spring Festival was established 40 years ago, to celebrate everything the county’s residents are proud of.
