Hundreds attend Pink Ribbon Luncheon

Hundreds of people showed up Thursday to show their support for breast cancer awareness at the tenth annual Pink Ribbon Luncheon.

The event raises money for women who may not have health insurance but need to get a mammogram.

Last year the event raised enough money to pay for mammograms for 300 women, three of which were diagnosed with cancer.

Money also goes to make comfort bags for women who are dealing with cancer.

Event commissioner Sharon Chadwick said, “These comfort bags give them support as they are going through treatment. They have mints, a pillow, a satin pillowcase for when they may start to lose their hair, a book that is inspirational to them as they move through their journey.”

The items that go into the comfort bags are picked by women who have dealt with cancer in the past.

This year the pink ribbon event raised about $150,000.
