Hundreds of mourners remember slain UNC student body president
ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — Eve Carson should be enjoying spring break or getting ready for the Atlantic Coast Conference basketball tournament, and the minister who spoke at her funeral Sunday was angry that she’s not.
The 22-year-old student body president at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill was remembered today by hundreds of mourners at a church in Athens, Ga.
Senior minister Bill Britt remembered Carson as someone who made a difference and saw the good in others. He said it is too early to be remembering her life.
Many of the mourners wore Carolina blue ribbons in her honor, a tribute also made on Saturday night at the North Carolina-Duke men’s basketball game.
Carson’s body was found lying on a street about a mile from campus. She had been shot several times, including once in the right temple.
Police are searching for a man photographed using Carson’s ATM card at a machine in Chapel Hill.
