Walk to Overcome Hunger
Many local residents showed their support for a worthy cause Sunday, by putting on their walking shoes. The 28th annual “Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty” or “Crop Walk” drew a crowd of more than 100 people to raise awareness for hunger relief.
A portion of the money raised from the event will go toward local agencies like the food bank and the domestic violence shelter.
Besides showing their support for the five-mile walk, many donated money and canned goods.
Last year the event brought in over $7,000; event organizers hope to top that amount this year.
