Hurricane Matthew update: Q&A with Bladen County EMS


BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — We reached out to emergency management for Bladen County to find out the latest on how Hurricane Matthew is impacting their community. We have updates on shelter closings, dangerous roads in the area and what residents in the county need to know.

Here is the Q & A with Emergency Services Director Bradley Kinlaw.

How many shelters will be open today and when will they will close?
We currently have 1 shelter open at East Bladen High School with 30 total individuals currently. This number is expected to go up.

How many power outages in Bladen County?
As of 9:00am, we had 5,757 Duke Energy outages and 2,511 Four County outages.

Any road closures to warn people about?
NC 87 is open to Fayetteville, but down to 1 lane in Cumberland county. US 701 at Colly Creek is repaired and open to provide access to the northern part of the county.

Debris still an issue? Any other debris guidelines for viewers?
