Hurricanes recall goaltender Kowalski
RALEIGH (AP) — The Carolina Hurricanes have recalled goaltender Craig Kowalski from the Florida Everblades of the ECHL to replace injured Cam Ward.
Ward is listed as day-to-day after suffering a laceration on his leg in the second period of the Hurricanes' 2-1 shootout loss to the New York Rangers yesterday.
The 26-year-old Kowalski has posted a 24-and-11-and-3 record, a 2-point-69 goals-against average, a .916 save percentage and two shutouts in 38 games with the Everblades this season.
The Hurricanes drafted him in the eighth round in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. He signed a multiyear contract with Carolina after four seasons with Northern Michigan University.
