Hydrant flushing may discolor water for some Surf City residents

SURF CITY, NC (WWAY) — The Town of Surf City says residents on the island could see discoloration in your water over the next week but don’t be alarmed.

The town will be flushing hydrants starting Friday through next week.

Surf City says the discoloration should dissipate within one to four hours of hydrants being flushed.

Hydrant flushing areas are as follows: 100-1300 blocks of South Shore Dr. and South Topsail Dr.; 100 – 900 blocks of North New River, North Shore, and North Topsail, to include all side streets of these areas.
