Ice skating rink is filling up this holiday break

There’s no snow or ice outside to contend with, but plenty of local kids are heading to the ice skating rink during their break from school to get into the winter spirit.

The Ice House Skating Rink in Wilmington has been packed this holiday season. They see around 150 skaters each day. Employees said many people associate ice skating with the holidays. But no matter the time of year, many kids just love to ice skate.

“I like skating because it makes me feel happy. It’s just the wind in my face and it’s really is awesome, because it feels like your flying,” said 11-year-old, Ransom Stone.

Ice skating is open to the public from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Ice House. During the week, skate rental and entry costs $5. On the weekend it’s $10.
