ILM certified to check child safety seats

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — ILM Airport’s Public Safety Office is now a Certified Car Seat Checking Station.

According to a release, the ILM aircraft rescue fire fighters have finished the intensive training to ensure proper car seat installation education. This training includes a Child Passenger Safety (CPS) certification class that combines classroom instruction, hands on practice, and a community car seat event where students teach parents how to properly use seat belts and car seats.

Operations Manager Gary Taylor says, ““Lt. Dustin Stream, one of ILM’s senior aircraft rescue fire fighters, has worked very hard to obtain this certification and offer the program as a courtesy to our passengers and community!”

The new Permanent Child Passenger Safety Seat Check Station is a partnership with the North Carolina Department of Insurance, Office of State Fire Marshall, the NC Governor’s Highway Safety Program, and Safe Kids North Carolina.

To have your car seat checked, visit the ILM Public Safety Office at 1851 Dolan Drive on Sunday or Monday from 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or Tuesday through Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.
