Increasing rain chances this afternoon

(WWAY) — Another hot and humid day is expected with storm chances expected.
Today, the surface trough will linger across the central Carolinas bringing more widely scattered afternoon showers or thunderstorms and hot and humid highs in the middle 90s. There remains a marginal risk of a strong or severe thunderstorm with the main concern straight-line winds. Looking ahead for the rest of the week… hot high pressure aloft remains in control with a weak surface front dropping down toward the region Wednesday before fading Thursday. Rain chances will drop some for middle and late week as the heat cranks up. Look for a few mainly afternoon showers or thunderstorms Wednesday and Thursday with highs in the mid to upper 90s. By Friday… very hot and humid weather is expected as highs soar into the upper 90s and only a slight chance of a cooling shower or thunderstorm developing in the afternoon. The upcoming weekend brings very hot weather Saturday with highs in the upper 90s followed by a weak cold front arriving Sunday and lowering our temps into the lower 90s. Also… there will be an increase in coverage of daily showers and thunderstorms this weekend.
