Inland shower chances expected for today

(WWAY) — Tropical moisture stays in place today as rain chances are expected for this afternoon.

A warm and humid air mass will remain in place for most of this week… supporting daily chances showers and thunderstorms through Thursday. Today will bring a chance of showers and thunderstorms under sunshine and clouds with a high in the upper 80s. Wednesday brings partly sunny skies with scattered showers and thunderstorms developing and a high again in the upper 80s to lower 90s. A stronger cold front will approach late Thursday and pass through the region Thursday evening. Ahead of the front… highs reach the upper 80s to near 90 with widely scattered showers and thunderstorms. Drier and somewhat cooler air flows in Friday behind the front with partly cloudy skies and highs in the lower 80s and perhaps an isolated shower. The front moves back north Saturday and it will combine with a disturbance to bring scattered showers and thunderstorms and cooler highs in the upper 70s. Another cold front slips by Saturday evening but our weather may remain a little unsettled still Sunday and next Monday with a continued chance of showers and highs in the cooler than average mid to upper 70s.

Today: Sunshine and cloudiness… very warm and humid. A chance of mainly afternoon showers and thunderstorms. High in the upper 80s. Heat index values reaching the lower 90s in the afternoon. Winds south at 10-15 mph. 

Tonight: A slight chance of showers or thunderstorms early. Scattered cloudiness. Warm and muggy low in the lower 70s. 

Wednesday: Partly sunny… rather hot and humid with scattered showers and a chance of afternoon thunderstorms. High in the upper 80s. Heat index values reaching the mid 90s in the afternoon. 

Thursday: Partly sunny skies with temperatures into the upper 80s to lower 90s. Scattered showers and thunderstorms expected.
