Inmate charged with assault on law enforcement officer

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A 24-year-old inmate at the New Hanover County jail is charged with allegedly assaulting an officer.

The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office charged Javon Ward for assault on a law enforcement officer Wednesday. The jail says Ward had been in custody since March. Records show he faces other charges, including assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill several other heroin-related counts.

He is in jail under a $353,000 bond.
