Inmate stabbed at Columbus Correctional Institution

(WWAY) — The North Carolina Department of Public Safety is investigating after an inmate was stabbed at the Columbus Correctional Institution in Whiteville.

DPS says at 10:45 a.m. Thursday the inmate reported several other inmates assaulted him in a dorm area.

The inmate suffered non-life threatening stab wounds and was taken to an outside medical facility for treatment.
