Are you covered? Insurance policy questions answered ahead of Irma

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — If you don’t have homeowners insurance it might be too late.

Earlier we spoke to Don Bullard Insurance about different types of coverages and if there is a cut off to get that last minute insurance before the storm.

Bullard says this week phones have been ringing non-stop with people trying to check their policies and even add insurance.

It is too late to get flood insurance and most companies are no longer adding anymore policies.

“Make sure just like you prepare for any hurricane that you do all the necessities you’re supposed to have but any insurance documents you have be sure to gather those up and keep that in case you are flooded so you know who to call with all the important phone numbers and that sort of thing,” Bullard said.

He also says if you have renters insurance, you need to check your policy because some companies like Geico may not cover wind and hail damage from the storm.
